THE TRUTH ABOUT ANGELS

Before getting to the "proof" scriptures let us see what angels are and are not. First,no angel described in the bible has wings.They always appear as young men of approximately 30-33 years of age,the same age as Jesus during his earthly ministry.The wings error comes from two places.In Revelations chapter 14 verse 6 an angel is said to fly in the midst of heaven.This does not mean he has wings as you and I can fly across heaven.Think airplane,helicopter,jet pack etc. in our case.There are angelic beings,cherubim, who do have wings.

There is no biblical record of a female angel.

Humans do not turn into angels when they die.Angels are powerful beings created by God.

So let us look at some of the examples of angels appearing in scripture.It is also well to remember that in the book of Hebrews we are cautioned that angels still appear from time to time and we are not even aware that they are angels. Hebrews Chapter 13 verse 2Be not forgetful to entertain strangers:for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Angels can appear as messengers.Luke chapter 1 verse 26-28 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee,named Nazareth,to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph,of the house of David;and the virgins name was Mary.And the angel came in unto her,and said,Hail, thou that art highly favored,the Lord is with thee:blessed art thou among women.

They can appear as fighters.Michael delivers Israel in Daniel chapter 12 verse 1.And at that time shall Michael stand up,the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people:and there shall be a time of trouble,such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time:and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Angels can appear as leaders as in Genesis chapter 24 verse 7 ...he shall send his angel before thee...

Angels can appear as helpers as they do in Matthew chapter 4 verse 11.Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold,angels came and ministered unto him.

Angels can be destroyers.Genesis chapter 19 verse 1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even;and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom;and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them;and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;and moving to verse 13 in the same chapter.For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD;and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.

So,the take away from this is that angels are male,special beings,created by God,to be used by him to accomplish his purposes.In the hundreds of biblical references to angels they always appear as young men with an appearance like humans.
